TÄSSÄ TEEMASSA
Young mind - videoinstallation

The work consists of two videos which explore the themes young people find difficult in life. The work aims to reveal the perspective of a young mind. The feelings and the pressures which are felt at a certain age and at different stages of life are true, although seen from an adults perspective they can appear exaggerated or trivial. Teenagers experience things in their own way, according to their own logic and their way of seeing the world. I anchor my art work into this gap in between the adult world and the teenage world.
The first video is based on a teenage girl who discusses her feelings about entering secondary school. In her words the demand of image pressure and the demand of being the same as others is emphasized.
The starting point of the second video is my own memory of a suicidal thought at the age of 12. A bath tub is used as a projection surface and the video is anchored in the moment of a teenage girl making a decision of direction using the experience of life she has had so far.
