Halo Bright Light Lamp

The idea for ‘Halo’ bright light lamp was born of my earlier interest in light and lighting design. My goal was to design an aesthetically more interesting and multifunctional bright light lamp that could be used year-round. ‘Halo’ can be used as a regular lamp as well as a bright light lamp. ‘Halo’ is hung from its stem to the ceiling. It has a domed light at the other end of the stem. With the stem, one can freely direct the light to the desired direction.
I designed ‘Halo’ in co-operation with Finnish lighting company Innojok Oy. In order to test the idea, we prepared two prototypes for this thesis. In comparison to a regular light fixture that is plugged into a ceiling socket, ‘Halo’ has a range of more than half the length of the stem. The lamp can be raised and lowered with the help of the hanging wire and stem in order to achieve the proper amount of bright light for light therapy.
