The subject of my thesis was to explore experimental methods of user study and how they could be applied and utilized in the field of pattern design. I have carried out a user study of 11-year old school children using design probes as my method of research. Based on the material and information obtained from this user study, I have designed a collection of patterns for home interior use, specifically for children’s rooms.

The collection consists of ten different patterns under three different themes and color charts. The visual language, themes and colors of the pattern collection reflect the children’s real wishes, tastes, opinions and dreams.
