There is no material more personal than skin. Like a stone in your shoe makes you think about your everyday shoes and possibly question their functionality, a tattoo can awaken thoughts about your body and life, two things that often taken for granted.
The theory of relational aesthetics is based on art creating relationships between people. How do tattoos create relationships? After pondering about the relational situations created by tattoos, I took a look at the relationship between a person and his skin. What kind of a bond do we have with our skin and our tattoos? Are we trying to express something?
