My master’s thesis approaches nature photography as a phenomenon of visual culture. I ask how conventions of nature photography like competition, technicality, and artistic aspects construct the substance of nature photography and nature itself. One of my questions is how the nature photographs are related to the thin line between art and visual culture. Can nature photographs be pieces of art? The photographs I took for this project can be seen as alternative nature pictures. The Purpose of these pictures is not only to mechanically copy reality, but also to visualize the relationship with nature, which consists of the environment and the imagination. Document and fiction become one.
