Vessel Segmentation for Ablation Treatment Planning and Simulation

This thesis represents a novel image processing method for vessel segmentation,
intended for numerical simulation of radiofrequency ablation treatment of liver
cancer.

The method consists of multi-scale vessel enhancement combined with ridge-
oriented region growing and skeleton-based post-processing, which are
represented in exhibition using 3D graphics. The published results show improved
accuracy over common approaches and illustrate the method's suitability for
simulation purposes.
