Architect as intermediary - towards open source practice
Architecture is a social and political form of art, as the function of architecture cannot be separated from the functions of human beings, nor can it be separated from the questions of community. Historically, architecture has been an instrument to represent power and social order. Architecture is linked to the democratic decision-making processes, but it seems to have lost its ability to address the public. Today, the explosion of information channels, which has increased the value of information received from peers and leads to the inflation of the enlightenment coming from 'top to bottom', challenges the design practice to re-link the vital connection to the public.
