Two lower apartments of the terrace building are single floored and the highest is a double floor penthouse. There is a wide sea view opening from each apartment. My thesis includes the architecture, spatial design, materials and solid furniture design. The premise of the work was to design a building complex for 3-5 apartments on a 1000m2 site in South-Crete. My primary suggestion summarizes three apartments terrace building for residence or vacation use. Small site in steeply descending hill offered great challenges and rewards. Amazing view, Crete’s climate, traditional village structure and local legislatives about construction set the design against whole new questions. My thesis includes, alongside with the architecture, the material choices, solid furniture design and other out- and indoors aesthetic and functional solutions. Same forms and substances vary from outside to in, wood in touch with the skin, concrete with function, light with the day and darkness with the night. The architecture is engineered in co-operation with Stratakissaravuo architects.
