| Suvi Tikka Fashion and Clothing Design 1980, Finland Close The thesis focuses on the development of an eco-friendly fashion concept. The concept includes understanding the whole life-span of the clothing line, taking into consideration materials, production processes, use and recycling. The thesis strongly encourages diversity and locality as a sustainable perspective. Furthermore the concept of Slow Fashion and eco-friendliness as a competitive advantage is discussed. Based on the findings presented in the thesis, “Close” women’s wear collection is designed. The collection adheres to ecological principles, but doesn’t necessarily underline them visually. Eco-friendliness is achieved through material selection, understanding and development of the production processes, quality control and recyclability. “Close” collection seeks for timeless aesthetics, good usability and to regain the value of clothing. All together it contains 10 outfits and includes woven, knitted and jersey products.
