Levinas’s face is an autobiographical comic book based on Emmanuel Levinas’s ethical philosophy. What happens when I meet other people face to face? What is love? Where does sense of responsibility begin?
The french-lithuanian philosopher Emmanuel Levinas started to work on his ethical theory after being held as a hostage during the second world war. To him ethics was the very first philosophy. How to encounter other people and where does it lead? In this comic book one learns about Levinas’s thoughts of ethics, dialogue and love. The theory of the responsibility of loving other people is being studied both on personal and political levels.
Levinas’s face is an independent sequel for Lehtimajas earlier comic book “A ride with Freire” published by Like 2006.
