“Helsinki a smoggy and foggy city” sang a Finnish pop idol Danny in the seventies and longed for the wilderness. On a dark winter night when every shop, cafeteria and museum is either closed or closing, it’s easy to relate to the words of Danny.
Especially when passing a dark alley or an unlit and neglected park. These small spaces inside the city hold an unreleased potential that can be used to elevate the street life. In my work I am suggesting an open 24h gallery to be integrated into the city structure. The gallery would function as a tool in presenting new and fresh young Finnish design.
