MoA08 breaks out to the streets of Helsinki 7 May 2008

The Masters of Arts08 Festival is a unique example of collaboration between professionals, students, supporters and the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TaiK). It is an environment for interaction between the young creators and potential employees, curators, artists and entrepreneurs. The most shining example of the students creativity is the Master’s Degree show which forms the heart of MoA. Also the exhibition architecture, festival visual identity and city appearance are designed by students. This year MoA08 expands to the Helsinki city centre with several smaller exhibitions. The legendary festival tram of Helsinki City Transports carries the guests from city centre to Arabianranta where MoA08 is located.

The festival tram drives along the routes number 6 and 8. Students of TaiK Iira Ohvo, Jonatan Hildén and Niina Turtola are responsible for changing the usual green colour of the tram into bright coloured optical illusions. The dazzling and dizzying festive atmosphere extends from the outer surface of the trams to the interior including the walls, ceiling and seats.

Delicious samples of the works by the newly graduate MAs are presented also in Esplanadi at Iittala, Artek and Akateeminen kirjakauppa. The city appearance of the festival has been developed by students Lotta Veromaa (TaiK) and Jyrki Vanamo (TKK).
