Creativity flows to the Masters of Arts 2007 festival

Masters of Arts Festival is an event of young urban culture. The festival makes visible the whole stream of the University’s know-how. It is an open window of creative passion on society and the future. In the heart of the Festival is the degree show of the Universitys’ new Masters. The exhibition is curated by journalist Katja Lindroos. The exhibition showcases the latest visions, fresh ideas, impressive research results, art, cinema, design, photography, graphic design, installations – a polyphony of visual culture.

MoA Festival continues collaboration with different educational institutes. Stadia Polytechnic, Pop & Jazz Conservatory and Arcada Polytechnic continue the collaboration. Estonian Art Academy and the Architecture Department of Helsinki University of Technology [HUT] join the collaboration.

MoA SHOWS THE POWER OF DREAMS

MoA grows from content. It mirrors the development of society, sets its sight in the future and sets the works and ideas of the young Masters of Arts graduates to a greater context. International seminars and seminar speakers approach culture and society from a number of viewpoints. The seminar series also gives faces for stories, dreams, products, ideas and legends - they show the person and persona behind each story. MoA 2007 program includes six international seminars with topics ranging from Architects with an Attitude to Design Journalism, from Creative Philosophy to Creative Business and Innovation. Seminar speakers include f.ex. architects José Oubrerie an François Roche from France.

MoA IS BORN FROM THE JOY OF COLLABORATION

Team spirit, the joy of collaboration, respecting others, appreciation, community and common goals – are the building blocks of the MoA Festival. The festival is built through collaboration, with a multilateral and polyphonic team. The exhibition architecture is designed by a team of space design students form the University of Art and Design Helsinki [TaiK] and architectural students from HUT. The team is led by architects Jaakob Solla (Konkret) and Antti Ahlava (MOD Architects). The visual identity of the festival is created by five graphic design students of TaiK and are supervised by graphic designer Aimo Katajamäki. The festival is produced by TaiKs’ Head of Exhibitions Tuuli Sotamaa.

MoA is a space of possibilities that will reveal its final form when the doors open on May 9th 2007.

The festival and the events are open to all and can be attended free of charge.
