Maisterit Lahden OLO.MUOTO-08 -tapahtumassa
Lahdessa 12.-14.9.08 järjestettävä OLO.MUOTO-08 -designtapahtuma esittelee suomalaisten muotoilutuotteiden, -palveluiden ja muotoilujohtamisen huiput sekä uutta innovatiivista muotoiluosaamista. Viisi MoA08n maisteria esittelee lopputöitään tapahtuman Young Talents -alueella. TaiK on tapahtumassa näkyvästi mukana myös omalla osastollaan.

Gallery Norsu Presents Masters on the Road
The University of Art and Design Helsinki and nine Masters of Art of 2008 participate in an exhibition at Gallery Norsu from 15 August to 13 September 2008 in Helsinki. The Masters of Art works will form a varied artistic entity inside within the Gallery. The exhibition will showcase pieces of art that are innovative and functional utilities, as well as art works that lie in-between art and design.

Compliments by MoA08 - The Masters of Arts will carry on!
Masters of Arts 08 -festival broke it's own records of attendance with allmost 13 000 attendee during the three weeks period!
Brilliant Masters of Art's diploma works, exhibition architecture, fresh visual appearance, high-grade seminars and other events got praise from the visitors and collaborators. 

The Masters of Arts Festival would like to thank all thoso who took part in this year's festival!

This week: MoA08 seminars
The climax of the MoA08 -festival are the fabulous seminars taking place in Mediacentre Lume this week.

On Wednesday The Art of Life and Design -seminar brigs top designers Satyendra Pakhalé, Stephen Burks and Thomas Sandell to share with the audience their personal journeys to the utmost top of Design World.

Architectural seminar Specail Effects deals with the creative use of cutting edge technology in order to produce new architectural effects. The speakers Hitoshi Abe, Neil Denari and Greg Lynn and the seminar moderator Kivi Sotamaa are all independent designers as well as professors at the UCLA School of Architecture and Urban Design.

Seminars: 21 May and 22 May at 2 pm at Mediacentre Lume, Sampo hall.

Tuula Antola voitti ensimmisen Matti Pulli Awardin

MoA08 -festivaalin ja Helsinki Design Weekin yhteistyönä 16.5.08 järjestetyssä ensimmäisessä Matti Pulli Award -sparrauskilpailussa vuoden sparraajaksi valittiin Tuula Antola. Kilpailussa kokeneet luovuuskonsultit mittelivät TaiKin uusien maisterien lopputöiden sparrauksessa. Tiukassa ja tunnelmaltaan vauhdikkaassa kisassa ottivat mittaa toisistaan Yrjö Timonen, yrityskehittäjä Messilästä, Alex Nieminen, Laundry Helsingin toimitusjohtaja sekä Innospan toimitusjohtaja Tuula Antola. Lopputöitään esittelivät vastavalmistuneet teolliset muotoilijat Maija Itkonen ja Salla Koski sekä vaatesuunnittelija Minttu Wikberg. Palkinnon luovutti valmennuksen elävä legenda Matti Pulli.

On the Edge of Change -seminar by Stephen Emmott will be held on Friday 16 May 2008 at 1.30 pm despite of the earlier announcement.
Stephen Emmott has been prevented to arrive on Monday and therefore the seminar will be held earlier.

13 May is a Good Will Day in MoA
As part of the MoA -festival the University of Art and Design will announce a Good Will Day. With this occation the University is willing to take part in creating new more  precious future for the children.  As a  gesture of good will, we have invited a multicultural group of children 5-6 years old to take part of our art program and to enjoy their childhood and  feel themselves appreciated by play and art. University of Art and Design wats to remind  everybody about the importance of creativity and possibilities of self expression in every childs life.

Mothers of Arts itienpivn MoAssa
Sunnuntaina 11.5. Masters of Arts08 -näyttely laajenee äitienpäivän kunniaksi koko perheen Mothers of Arts taidepajaksi.
Lähtökohtana toimii näyttelykokemus ja teosten nimistä laadittu metrokartta, jonka avulla sukelletaan teosten maailmaan.  Tapahtuma on avoin kaikille ikään ja kokoon katsomatta, niin lapsille kuin lapsenmielisillekin.
Metroreitille muovaillaan myös matkustajia: omakuvia, äitejä, isiä ja muita otuksia.

Hyppää mukaan MoA metron seikkailuun, se odottaa jo matkustajiaan!

MoA08 breaks out to the streets of Helsinki 7 May 2008

The Masters of Arts08 Festival is a unique example of collaboration between professionals, students, supporters and the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TaiK). It is an environment for interaction between the young creators and potential employees, curators, artists and entrepreneurs. The most shining example of the students creativity is the Master’s Degree show which forms the heart of MoA.

MoA Cinema screening, May 8th, presenting three award-winning movies

MoA08 cinema screening presents three-award winning movies produced at the School of Motion Picture, TV and Production Design of the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Roadmarkers was recently nominated to the Selection of film school works, Cinéfondation, at Cannes.

The high profile MoA seminar series brings international top speakers to four different seminars held at the Media Centre Lume. The seminars of the year 2008 include topics like architecture, passion and the state on change.

The participants of the  Architecture -seminar entitled Special Effects, held on May 22nd, come from Los Angeles, Southern California - the home of aeronautive, automotive and film industries, as well as the avant-garde of architecture in the United States. The speakers Hitoshi Abe, Neil Denari and Greg Lynn are all independent designers as well as professors at the UCLA School of Architecture and Urban Design.

MoA08 stands on solid ground
A record breaking number of new graduates will take part in the Masters of Arts 2008 diploma work exhibition. Nearly 90 new projects will be exhibited in the Media Centre Lume, creating a rich and multidisciplinary entity. For the first time some of the diploma works will also be exhibited right in the heart of Helsinki.

MoA08 is produced within an international team
The Masters of Arts 2008 team has been formed. Highly international team consists of students and professionals from various fields in art and design. MoA’s visual identity, exhibition architecture and program is a result of the collaboration between these people.

MoA08 teams chosen on week 43
The team behind Masters of Arts Festival is every year different. The team responsible for the visual identity of the festival will be chosen from the MA graphic design students of TaiK. Exhibition architecture will now for the second time in a row be designed within a team consisting of students from TaiK and HUT.

Supercity presents pieces from MoA07
Supercity is an exhibition that brings together students of the Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki at the Sanomatalo August 31 – September 12. The exhibition  presents through diploma and project works  how to innovatively develop urban culture.

MoA07 Festival drew 12000 admirers of visual culture to Media Centre Lume
A natural extension of the University of Art and Design Helsinki’s degree show, the Masters of Arts Festival has ended. The multi-faceted MoA07 Festival drew 12000 admirers of creativity and young visual culture to the festival exhibition in Media Centre Lume, the seminars and other events. Other activities took place around Helsinki as well, for instance, in the Saunabus and the premises of Stadia Helsinki Polytechnic in Arabianranta. A number of the diploma works featured at the festival are showcased in Masters on the Road exhibitions during the summer and the fall - students from Konstfack will be joining with their diploma works, too.
