ABSURD PICNIC
Statement
Absurd Picnic is a line of unique textiles and wallpapers. Part of Zukale’s diploma work was on display in the international Rooms for Free exhibition in Germany in summer 2006. Some of the works were included in the Campus exhibition at the Heimtextil trade fair in Frankfurt in January 2007. Zukale’s works combine the atmosphere of old paintings and fabrics with today’s critical review. The idea is to create contrast between modern life and the beautiful pictures of the old times. The result is a whole between art and design, created with various techniques. Some of the products are hand-printed; others have been digitally printed on fabric. The Moa07 exhibition displays part of the diploma work in a form of an installation made of hand-printed wallpapers. Its starting point were traditional landscape patterns. A company specialising in digital printing of fabrics, Color-Web was a partner in the project.
