Statement
A car was rusting away in the forest near my childhood home. The other boys and myself used to kick at it, I alone tried to fix it. In my mind, I brought it to life. Since then, I have returned to those feelings with my camera. I photograph in the dark or twilight scrap cars that I've found. I use long exposure times, during which I move around the field of view, lighting the car and the forest with coloured lights. I create stages that would not exist without me. The camera remembers what it sees with a logic of its own. The finished image is the sum of experience and coincidence, a two-dimensional surface, which I can, nevertheless, dive into and discover my long-lost fantasy playgrounds. I photograph the fringes of industrial society and the ruins of modern life. Nature receives the offering of a metal cow in her tender bosom and rocks it to sleep. Goliath Hansa and Elite Deluxe. There they lie, silent witnesses to man’s dreams.
