HOME MADE IDOLS
Statement
Home Made Idols is an interactive, multi-channel television programme developed by Tatu Marttila (industrial design), Aapo Korkeaoja (Media Lab) and team (University of Art and Design Helsinki, Arcada, Stadia). The programme was screened on the Internet (www.homemadeidols.net) and the DINA channel in autumn 2006. In Home Made Idols, anybody can create a performance. The viewers can vote and comment on the performance, and the winners end up performing in live broadcasts.
The programme package also includes the Pig Brother super-reality TV and X Idol programmes, which represent the Home Made Idols’ genre, anarchotainment. The concept of the programme package is crystallised in the creation of unlimited entertainment that develops culture and comments on society.
