I AM – OBSERVATIONS ON PRESENCE
Statement
My final artistic thesis work deals with existence and presence in this time and culture. I have particularly thought about how different tools linked with communication have changed our ideas about existence and presence, or how they influence our own behaviour in various interaction situations. My final thesis work comprises a text section with drawings, exploring absence and presence, four photographs and twelve pieces of jewellery depicting the theme, and an exhibition at the University of Art and Design Helsinki’s Galleria Atski in November 2006. The photographs were taken by photographer Antti Hahl in spring 2006 and I am present in the pictures. The photographs were displayed at the Häme Gallery in Lahti in May 2006. The jewellery was made by me in the autumn 2006.
