PASS THE KNOWLEDGE
Statement
Throughout 2006, I took photographs of recycled paper, cardboard and paperboard in different forms and configurations. In a paper recycling centre, the paper is sorted, cleaned, and packed into bales, and then divided into categories depending on its grade. In the large processing hall, the piles of paper often spill out accidentally, mixing with other paper and creating an unclassifiable, constantly changing setting of pictures and words. The result that passes through my mind when I take the photos is somewhere between collage, sculpture, painting, environmental art, installation, readymade, and photography. The series seeks to provide an opportunity to pass, filter, and exchange secret learning, knowledge, and wisdom through the viewer's mind, blending with experiences and memories, just as recycled paper passes through our society. The series was made by copying, evading and recycling knowledge from the history and philosophy of art. The pictures move, expand, contract, fall down, become fuzzy, come closer, shake, change, disappear, and exit in a sampled imperfect tense.
