DRÖM -FROM THE SERIES LOOTUS I, II, III
Statement
The motif of my work stems from my unsatisfied wish of a trip to Japan to see the sacred, magical lotus that grows in mud. Lotus I, II and III are like giant lotus flowers with their petals in a bud. The purpose of the intensely symmetrical and tapering dynamic of the forms is to charge them with a silent, holy power and peace. In the exhibition, the buds stand on top of transparent pipes, rising from the floor like plants that float on the surface of water. The surface material of the sculptures is white silk crepe. The cloth is partly dyed and stiffened to fit the skeleton of the work. The dyeing seeks to imitate the blush of the petals in an unopened lotus bud. The dyed surface is like a watercolour – making water present in the concept, thanks to the technique.
