1971, SWEDEN
ALONE, TOGETHER
The makers of Yksin, yhdessä see the film as a political one. It is a film about our time and the isolation manifest in it. The action takes place in a Helsinki block of flats, focusing on a few flats. Small everyday events gain significance as the film progresses and they form a poetic image of the lives of the main characters and their joys and sorrows. But the walls are ever present and the people behind them cannot be ignored. Janina Kokkonen and Annika Grof wrote the script for the film in the international Sources 2 script development workshop funded by the EU. The film is directed by Annika Grof and produced by Janina Kokkonen and it is their final thesis work for the University of Art and Design Helsinki. The cinematography is by Hannu-Pekka Vitikainen and the sound design by Panu Riikonen. Original music for the film is composed by Ville Riippa.
