Taneli Mustonen
Film and Television
Placebo is an enigmatic thriller about a young woman, Edith, whom a man abandons outside the city in an unconscious state. Edith, who has lost her memory, returns to the city and tries to continue living her life peacefully, but certain events lead her back to her husband – the man, who is Edith's worst enemy. The film is the diploma work of director Taneli Mustonen, cinematographer Daniel Lindholm and production designer Sanna–Mari Pirkola for the School of Motion Picture, Television and Production Design. It has been produced by the Theater Academy of Finland in association with the University of Art and Design Helsinki and YLE/FST. Team: Daniel Lindholm and Sanna–Mari Pirkola Collaboration: FST, STV, University of Art and Design Helsinki, NorMa / Theatre Academy of Finland BiographyTaneli Mustonen got a box seat to the world of cinema already as a child, when his parents took upon themselves to keep alive the supply of movies in Outokumpu by continuing to operate the cinema Kino Marita as a family business when it would otherwise have been closed down. The cinema reportoire broadened with new and different types of films in the 1990s when the family opened another theatre in Joensuu, specialising in movies imported by Cinema Mondo. As a schoolboy, Taneli worked as projectionist in the cinemas. He still likes to work as a projectionist whenever he can to keep up the vanishing skill of projecting 35mm film. Contact:
