LUMOUS – collection for Finlayson Oy
Influence
My diploma work takes a plunge into enchanting summer moods. Based on the theme of water lilies, the blazingly colourful product family tells a tale of the best days of midsummer – rowing trips, the lapping of waves, the gentle heat of a cottage sauna and the carefree mood of a summer home.
LUMOUS collection – the diploma work – for Finlayson Oy encompasses blanket covers, a series of metre cloths and a bathroom ensemble that consists of terry towels, a shower curtain and a mat. As additional items there have been manufactured vanity bags, summer bags, and barbeque aprons for the collection.
The collection's colour scheme is co–ordinated to match Finlayson general products for the summer–fall season 2006 collection, such as bedspreads, decorative pillows and one–colour bath room textiles.
The work reflects on the product concept possibilities of the LUMOUS collection and summarises especially the first steps of the collection's birth process. The theme of water lilies has inspired the creator to explore the symbolic nature of her theme and existing links to art and illustration history.
